Geekstorians Earns Nomination for Best History Podcast at 30th Webby Awards

Geekstorians has secured a nomination for Best History Podcast in the 30th Annual Webby Awards, an accolade presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Recognised as one of the most prestigious honours on the Internet, the Webby Awards select only five nominees per category, chosen by a panel of over 3,000 industry experts.

The podcast, produced by Geektown and created by Dave Elliott, offers a documentary-style exploration of the unusual, humorous, and often overlooked stories that have shaped geek culture. It combines elements of history, storytelling, and pop culture analysis to examine the origins of fandom, comics, gaming, television, and pivotal moments that have influenced these areas.

Dave Elliott, who independently produces and hosts Geekstorians from Staffordshire, England, expressed his amazement at the nomination. He said, “Geekstorians is still a relatively new podcast, and it’s a fully independent show that I create and produce myself from Staffordshire, England, so to see it nominated for a Webby is honestly amazing. It’s up against some big names and much bigger followings, which makes this even more surreal. I started the show because I wanted to tell the strange, funny, chaotic stories behind geek culture in a way that felt smart, entertaining and accessible, and it means a huge amount to see it recognised like this.”

Alongside the nomination, Geekstorians is eligible for the Webby People’s Voice Award, which is determined by public voting. Voting is currently open and will close on Thursday, 16th April. Supporters can cast their votes at https://wbby.co/57464N.

This recognition coincides with significant developments for the podcast, including the release of the Geekstorians Easter Special on Good Friday and the launch of Season 2 the following week. Additionally, Season 3 is in the planning stages.
