Beckerwyc House, an exquisite family-run hotel nestled on the picturesque Austevoll island outside Bergen, Norway, is set to redefine luxury hospitality with its unparalleled food experiences. Spearheaded by world-class chef Ørjan Johannessen, the hotel promises a gastronomic journey like no other, coupled with breathtaking views and warm hospitality.

The heart of Beckerwyc House lies within its acclaimed restaurant, Mirabelle, where local ingredients from Austevoll take center stage. Ørjan Johannessen, renowned for his precision and dedication to taste, has created a culinary haven where guests can indulge in carefully crafted menus and impeccable service.

“With Mirabelle, we aim to create unique dining experiences for our guests, where every aspect is meticulously planned to deliver exceptional flavors,” explains Ørjan Johannessen, who has brought his mentor, Odd Ivar Solvold, to oversee the culinary concept at Beckerwyc House.

Situated on the hillside overlooking Bekkjarvik Harbour, Beckerwyc House offers an exclusive boutique hotel experience. The property features 20 luxurious rooms and suites, half of which boast private patios offering stunning views of the idyllic harbor, fjords, and majestic Sunnhordland mountain peaks. Guests can unwind on the various terraces, relax in the lounge, or rejuvenate in the jacuzzi. Electric car charging points are available for eco-conscious travelers, emphasizing the hotel’s commitment to sustainable practices.

Beckerwyc House seamlessly integrates with the historic Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri Hotel & Suites, just a short stroll from the main property. Rønnaug Nymark, CEO of Beckerwyc House, highlights the deep-rooted connection to Bekkjarvik’s accommodation legacy, stating, “We believe that Beckerwyc House will have international appeal, attracting food enthusiasts seeking unique culinary experiences as well as those looking for tranquility and the authentic Austevoll experience.”

Designed by Ajas Mellbye, the signature building of Beckerwyc House embodies the essence of the surrounding environment, with its architecture resembling fish hatcheries and rock formations. Sol Design has tastefully curated the interiors, drawing inspiration from the sea and nature, resulting in a harmonious blend of colors and shapes that reflect the region’s beauty.

Beyond its opulent offerings, Beckerwyc House goes beyond being a mere hotel. Under Ørjan Johannessen’s guidance, the Beckerwyc Food Academy provides guests with unrivaled culinary knowledge across three distinct areas. The top floor houses a dedicated “food cathedral” that hosts a range of food and drink experiences. The academy offers food courses for individuals and businesses, digital streaming courses, and industry-specific competence development.

A separate room, the chambre separée, caters to private dining experiences, group gatherings, and meetings. In November, the highly anticipated Mirabelle restaurant by Ørjan Johannessen will open its doors, serving exquisite “Island Gastronomy” that showcases the region’s finest flavors.

“I am thrilled to embark on this culinary journey with our exceptional team and family,” exclaims Ørjan Johannessen, eager to realize his high ambitions at Beckerwyc House.

The realization of Beckerwyc House marks a significant milestone for the Johannessen family, and Asta Johannessen, Chairman of Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri & Suites and Ørjan’s mother, expresses her delight in witnessing the next generation finding their place in the family business. She remarks, “It confirms that what we do is viable and fills me with great joy.”

Beckerwyc House promises to be a haven for both epicurean travelers seeking extraordinary culinary experiences and those seeking a serene escape surrounded by the beauty of Austev.
