Inclusive Cycling Event in York Promotes Accessibility and Community Engagement

Get Cycling CIC is excited to announce ‘All Together Now,’ a two-day inclusive cycling event taking place at York Railway Institute on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 February 2025. This free event aims to bring people of all abilities together to experience the joy of cycling, explore specialist cycles, and connect with local organisations offering valuable resources for people with disabilities.

Thanks to generous funding from Motability Foundation, Get Cycling’s Pathways to Pedals programme continues to break down barriers and create inclusive cycling opportunities for everyone.

Event Highlights:

  • Sunday: A family-friendly day tailored for people with disabilities and/or limited mobility and their families to enjoy inclusive cycling activities together.
  • Monday: A special outreach day for local organisations to learn how cycles and programmes can support their communities.

“We’re thrilled to bring this inclusive cycling event to York, showcasing the transformative power of accessible cycling,” says Paula Clark, Engagement Manager at Get Cycling CIC. “Our goal is to ensure everyone, regardless of their abilities, can experience the freedom and joy that cycling brings.”

Visitors will have the chance to try a wide range of cycles and learn more about Get Cycling’s Pathways to Pedals programme, which offers accessible cycling opportunities and support. The event will also include information stands from local charities and support groups, providing helpful resources for those with disabilities.

“Working with Get Cycling CIC was an absolute joy,” says Matt Lucas, Sports Lead with Tang Hall SMART. “Our cohort of students all interested in either sports or fitness jumped on the bikes and all got involved, quickly finding confidence as they were empowered to do something some of them would never have had the opportunity to do otherwise. We look forward to working with them again.”
